KAWASAKI SUPPORTS SKIDZ WITH TWO-WHEELED DONATION
20 September 2007 - Kawasaki Motors UK
A special delivery was made by Kawasaki Motors UK this week to the Skidz Motor Project in High Wycombe.
A Kawasaki ER-6n was handed over by Kawasaki Motors UK Branch Manager, Howard Dale, to help students improve their knowledge of modern motorcycles. The Skidz Motor Project has been running for nine years and the registered charity provides support, education and training to young people aged from 13 to 16 years. With an emphasis on the less advantaged and those at risk, the project aims to help students gain skills in motor mechanics and allied trades. In turn this helps them to progress with training for formal qualifications and finding employment. “The arrival of this Kawasaki ER-6n is fantastic as it now means we can help our students build a better understanding of modern motorcycles. We can show them how technology has progressed over the years and get to grips with areas such as contemporary braking and suspension systems,” said Steve Godfrey, Project Director at Skidz. “It’s thanks to the enthusiastic support of companies such as Kawasaki that our students can get this experience.” Kawasaki Motors UK head quarters are not far from the project and Howard Dale, Branch Manager said, “It is rewarding to be able to contribute to such a worthwhile local project. The work carried out by Skidz with young people in our local community is amazing. The many stories of young teenagers who have been able to completely turn their lives around and gain self confidence, qualifications and training through this scheme are incredible.” The large workshop located in the heart of High Wycombe sees more than 800 students a year carry out work on motorbikes as well as cars and quad bikes.
