NOBODY FAILS AN IAM RIDECHECK
24 September 2007 - Ride Safe Back Safe

The Institute of Advanced Motorcyclists (IAM) is launching a new assessment course for bikers, with the support of Lancashire’s RideSafe BackSafe team.

The IAM RideCheck includes a 40 minute ride-out for two motorcyclists with one qualified observer. After this, the observer will assess each rider’s performance on a one-to-one basis, offering advice and recommendations where appropriate and providing a copy of an enhancement report and checklist. There is no pass or fail, just an enjoyable ride out and informative feedback.

At 10.00am on Sunday 14th October, the first course will start at Lancashire’s Police HQ in Preston with a presentation by IAM, an introduction to the RideSafe BackSafe initiative and light refreshments. This will be followed by an on-road ride out and a one-to-one advice session with the observer.

Simply taking the course and thinking about your own riding techniques should improve your riding, but attendees will also become IAM Associates for free, gain access to a wide range of benefits and receive regular issues of the IAM Advanced Driving magazine.

The course is available to all bikers at a discounted rate of £20 and must be pre-booked & pre-paid by emailing Shelby Williams on shelby.williams@lancashire.pnn.police.uk . Every attendee must have their drivers licence, insurance and, if required an MOT certificate for the motorcycle with them on the day.
