YAMAHA LAUNCHES EXCITING 2008 UK MODELS AT THE INTERNATIONAL MOTORCYCLE AND SCOOTER SHOW
11 September 2007 - MCI Exhibitions Ltd

The International Motorcycle and Scooter Show will host the first UK unveiling of Yamaha’s glittering new 2008 models, including the groundbreaking YZF-R125 and XT660Z organisers announced today.

Following their world release yesterday, Yamaha is the first manufacturer to confirm their UK models will be revealed exclusively at the NEC Show between 23rd November and 2nd December, making it the first place for the UK’s bike lovers to see these bikes up close and personal.

The announcement by the UK’s biggest two-wheeled Show adds to an already phenomenal line-up of bikes that are set to grace the halls of the Birmingham NEC. Destined to be one of the highlights for visitors, Yamaha’s brand new YZF-R125 is a star in its own right. With GP styled looks, the liquid-cooled four-valve 124cc machine lays claim to being the best performing learner four-stroke on the market. With a combination of race replica styling and handling along with a spec that enables riders without a full bike licence to ride it, the YZF-R125 is set to be on every young biker’s Christmas list.

Also drawing in the crowds will be the brand new Yamaha XT660Z Tenere, a replica of the famous Paris-Dakar bikes of the 1980s. This impressive looking dual-purpose machine has long distance riding capabilities including a massive fuel tank, long-stroke suspension and dual lights. Designed with versatility in mind, the XT660Z Tenere is likely to attract city dwelling commuters and round-the-world adventurers alike.

Yamaha’s impressive line-up of new launches will be topped off by a few familiar faces, including the YZF-R6. The 2008 R6 has been sharpened further still, adopting the revolutionary YCC-I (Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake) and a number of other features that make it the most advanced production 600 class motorcycle Yamaha has ever made. In addition, Yamaha’s big commuter scooter, the 500cc T-MAX, is now stopped by powerful 4-pot brakes whilst undergoing a host of other changes.

With bikes taking centre stage at this year’s re-launched Show, Yamaha’s UK launches add yet another reason for bike fans to visit alongside an all-star line-up of manufacturers which includes; BMW, Buell, CCM, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Hyosung, Kawasaki, KTM, PGO Scooters, Suzuki, Triumph, Vectrix, Victory Motorcycles, Watsonian Squire, and Wuyang

Simon Belton, Marketing Manager for Yamaha Motor UK commented; “The International Motorcycle and Scooter Show is a perfect platform from which to introduce our new range to the UK and we are delighted to be able to unveil some really ground-breaking 2008 models that we are certain will cause a stir amongst visitors to the NEC.”

Finlay McAllan, Managing Director of MCI Exhibitions, commented on today’s announcements:

“We are absolutely delighted to announce that Yamaha’s impressive 2008 models will be seen for the first time in the UK at the NEC Show.
