WORLD CHAMPIONS – STEVE RAMON & SUZ
03 September 2007 - Suzuki Racing
Suzuki rider Steve Ramon clinched the most coveted title in Motocross racing yesterday, as he took his RM-Z450 to MX1 World Championship glory in Lierop, Holland.
Not content with a world rider’s title, the Suzuki Corona Team went one better by clinching the World Manufacturers Title for Suzuki on the same day, thanks to Ramon and team mate Kevin Strijbos. Following a hard fought season of racing across the globe, it came to the very last round of the championship for Ramon and Suzuki to realise their dream of championship glory, managing to take the title in the first race of the day with a second place finish behind his team-mate. Speaking after taking the title, new World MX1 Champion Steve Ramon commented, “I was really happy to see all the people at the finish-line. I knew what to expect after my previous world MX2 title, but it is a great feeling; that moment when it hits you ‘I’m World Champion”. Completing a perfect season, Strijbos finished runner-up in the series further proving the pedigree of the RM-Z450. Available in UK dealers from November this year, the all-new RM-Z450 is a direct development of the bikes ridden by Ramon and Strijbos in the World Championship. Featuring fuel injection for the first time on a production 450, the 2008 RM-Z450 has World Championship pedigree out of the box.
