AVON ROADRIDER
22 August 2007 - Avon Tyres
With the Avon Roadrider, Cooper Tire & Rubber Company Europe Ltd offer a fantastic performing and great value tyre for riders of traditional and commuter machines.
The all-weather, crossply tyre has just increased its range to 33 sizes; catering for everything from a Triumph T140 Bonneville right through to Honda’s CB500. But Roadrider isn’t just about a wide range of fitments, Avon looked closely at what matters most to riders of traditional and commuter machines: durability, grip, precise handling and performance. Roadrider delivers all these. Leveraging their sports pedigree and constructions methods developed from their high-performance range of tyres, Avon technicians have built in a multi-arc tread profile that forces the biggest possible contact patch onto the road, whatever the lean angle. The need for light and precise handling, whilst moving at slow speeds through traffic, also called for an advanced casing design to give low rolling resistance and positive feel. Durability and all-weather confidence is provided by a rubber compound unique to Roadrider, bolstered by distinctive tread pattern featuring a unique central groove to resist ‘whitelining’. The issue of high-speed performance has also been considered with all Roadrider fitments rated to speeds of up to 150mph/240kph. As well as benefiting riders, Roadrider aims to assist dealers too. With the technical research that accompanied Roadrider’s development programme, extensive studies were carried out to determine the best way to provide a clear and logical solution for a range of bikes that is often served by numerous tyre ranges. Pete McNally, Avon’s chief motorcycle designer explains, “Many of the bikes is designed for are today catered for by remnants of old sport touring ranges that have largely been superseded by modern radials. This makes it difficult for dealers to carry a comprehensive stock profile, which in turn leads to difficulties for consumers when they need new rubber. Roadrider offers clarity for the trade and we expect our customers to benefit from the improved levels of availability and choice that this clarity will bring.” Fitments available: Front 3.25-19, 90/90-18, 90/90-19, 90/90-21, 100/80-17, 100-90-16, 110/70-17, 110/90-16, 110/80-17, 120/70-17 Rear 4.00-18, 120/80-17, 120/80-18, 120/90-17, 120/90-18, 130/70-17, 130/70-18, 130/80-17, 130/80-18, 130/90-17, 140/70-17, 140/70-18, 140/80-17, 150/70-17, 150/70-18, 150/80-16, MT90-16 Universal 100/90-18, 100/90-19, 110/80-18, 110/90-18, 120/80-16 For your nearest Avon Tyres stockist contact 01225 703101 or visit www.avonmotorcycle.com
