MAXXIS SIGNS NEW 3-YEAR MOTOCROSS SPONSORSHIP DEAL
17 July 2007 - Maxxis
Maxxis is continuing its support of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship through to 2010 after signing a new three year deal as title sponsor.
Maxxis has been supporting the country’s top motocross series since 2002, during which time the championship has grown both in stature and popularity. The new contract runs from the 2008 season and will provide continuity for everyone involved. “The professionalism of motocross has increased dramatically since 2002 and the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship is recognised as one of the strongest domestic motocross series in the world, proving just how exciting the sport can be,” says Maxxis UK managing director Derek McMartin. “Our enhanced financial contribution will enable the ACU to reinvest to make the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship bigger and better than ever. “It will also take motocross to a wider audience by helping the ACU to leverage the kind of primetime TV coverage which has done so much to boost interest in British motocross in the past couple of years.” Maxxis, which supports the Twisted Seven and Relentless Suzuki factory teams, as well as a host of individual riders competing in the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship, has not only renewed its contract as title sponsor of the series, but has also increased its investment to sponsor the youth championship in 2008. The MXY2 Championship was launched this season and runs alongside four rounds of the adult series. It enables up and coming riders aged 14-17 years to experience what it would be like to compete at the highest level of British motocross and gives them a golden opportunity to get themselves noticed by the talent scouts working for the top teams. Maxxis’s sponsorship of the MXY2 Championship is in keeping with its policy of supporting grass roots sport – the company also sponsors Team Green, Kawasaki Motors UK’s highly successful Motocross and Enduro racing initiative – to encourage youngsters to get involved. Motocross is a key part of Maxxis’s very broad sporting sponsorship portfolio, which includes KIK Team Honda – the official Honda UK ATV racing team – Aston Villa FC and the British Supersport Championship, which is one of the leading motorcycle racing series in the UK and Europe and is considered the final stepping stone to the British Superbike Championship. “With the new Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship and MXY2 Championship sponsorship contracts we are putting money into the sport, to help encourage youngsters to take up motocross and give riders the chance to develop their skills so that they can perform at the highest level in the MX1 and MX2 classes,” adds Mr McMartin.
