BRITISH MOTO GP DISAPPOINTMENT FOR TEAM APPLEYARD/MACADAM
20 June 2007 - Team Appleyard Macadam
After earning a coveted ‘wildcard’ ride in the GP125 race at this weekend’s British Moto GP event, Team Appleyard/Macadam rider Ashley Beech has been forced to withdraw due to injury.
Ashley crashed heavily whilst leading the British GP125 Championship race at Mondello Park on Sunday last and has damaged ligaments in his left ankle. He has received treatment but unfortunately the ankle has not responded sufficiently and the team has reluctantly had to declare him unfit to ride. Commenting, Team Manager Robin Appleyard said; “Ashley is obviously extremely disappointed, as is the team, but we would like to thank all concerned including the ACU and IRTA for giving him this opportunity. Right now we’re focusing on getting him fit in time for the next British Championship event at Knockhill on 1st July. He has had some bad luck in the last two races having led both but failing to finish either so we’re hoping that Knockhill will be where he can resume his fight for the Championship. It’s also the ‘home’ round for Ashley’s teammate Stewart Finlay so the team are hoping for strong performances from both our riders.”
