Sidecar champ confident of victory in front of home crowd
Reigning World Sidecar champion Tim Reeves has confirmed 22-year old Patrick Farrance as his new passenger for next weekend’s (9/10 June) round of the Superside FIM World Sidecar Championship at Brands Hatch, and is confident of victory in front of his home crowd. Ashford-based Reeves, who claimed the 2005 and 2006 championships with his brother Tristan, started the 2007 season alongside Stuart Graham, but was forced to find a new team mate at the 11th hour when the Irishman injured himself in practice ahead of the first round of the season at Schleiz in Germany. Farrance, based in Appleby, Cumbria, was flown in with just hours to spare and the new pairing managed just 10 laps on a damp track in qualifying. “Patrick is mustard!” said Reeves. “We only had time for 10 laps in the wet in Germany but we gelled instantly. We went on to win the first race and broke the lap record in the process!” “We would have won the second race as well, if the fuel pump hadn’t packed up six laps before the end of the race” continued Reeves. “Luckily we managed to coast home in seventh, the plus side of which is that we arrive at Brands Hatch with no ballast. I can’t wait!” Experienced sidecar passenger Farrance will compete in this weekend’s infamous Isle of Man TT races, and will replace the injured Stuart Graham for the rest of 2007 World Sidecar Championship. Round 2 of the FIM Superside World Sidecar Championship will take place at Brands Hatch on 9/10 June as a support to the UK round of the DTM Championship. Discounted advanced tickets are available online priced from just £25 or can purchased on the gate for £30. Admission is free for children aged 12 and under.
